WREN Happenings March 2020

Hope everyone is having a fantastic 2020 so far! We certainly are with our recent partnership with the American Eagle Foundation, absorption of SmashParks, and partnership with our local library for a monthly lecture series. We also just had our first local fundraiser thanks to Downtown Yoga of Johnson City and Yee-Haw Brewing Company. Despite it being a slower time of the year for transports, our volunteers have been busier than expected during the winter months. Most of our transports have involved injured, adult birds including our first Sandhill Crane and Double-crested Cormorant transports.

Picture is from the 4 Paws Wildlife Rescue. The cormorant was contained for transport and then taken to Goose Creek Wildlife Sanctuary in Florida by our volunteer Triniti. The cormorant was eventually released back into the wild.

Picture is from the local animal control officer before the crane was properly contained for transport. The crane was transported by our volunteer, Joy, and her husband, Doug, to Laurens Wildlife Rescue. In a short time, the crane was released.

We are in the process of updating our website. Check out our events while we plan more workshops with dates to be announced this spring.
